For me it is heading in to the campaign straight away, I want to find things out with missions, keeps it a bit more exciting for me.

Probably find a jet and go flying around the map to see what it is like then possible get a quad bike and go through the desert trails

Go to free mode, find a Sanchez (or the equivalent) and explore the map.
