Alienwares aren't the only laptops that have discrete graphics cards and some upgrade-able components. You can surely get a better desktop replacement for the price.

He wants a laptop though for sure, he goes around with to family and friends houses all the time to game together.

Yeah Alienware is really overpriced. But if he's getting a gaming laptop then maybe get that one.. But I really recommended for him to get a desktop pc. Check out cyber power.

By "desktop replacement," I mean a big, heavy, powerful laptop that's semi-portable. I'd call them "transportable" because they have terrible battery life and they're just not suitable for taking to class and whatnot.

Yet again someone thinks alienware is good. Oh no.

just tell him to build his own computer it would be cheaper and you can get evrything you want instead of it pre built

Not everyone wants a desktop and fewer will want to build it themselves. You can't talk someone in to something that they don't want.

It would be easier for us to recommend a good laptop if we don't know his price range.
