I was given a glass sword of blizzards, yet I have not been given a housecarl, she didn't mention I was thane and if I attack a guard I can't tell them to let me go because I'm thane. I can't have any dialogue with Maven Black-Briar anymore. I chose the imperial side of the civil war and have completed it.

I think you cannot become thane after completing the Civil War stuff, so its best to complete it before hand by talking to the Jarl. However, it is possible you have the quest to become thane but haven't completed it. Check your Misc section of the quest journal, look for something that would say "Help the people of the Rift" or something like that, with a 0/3 beside it, or a higher number.
