I Am currently building a PC and i have run into a small problem. My power supply (Corsair CX500) has different shapes on the cpu cord than the plugin for it on the MOBO (Asus M5A97 R2.0) It is the only cord to plug in and it fits perfectly? i have no clue if it will ruin my MOBO or not if i start it up. Mt friend told me it could ruin my PC.

tell me what you guys think! thanks!

Are you sure you lined the pin connectors "Shapes" up correctly?

I guess I'm not understanding correctly. So you plugged in the 24-pin connector snug into your motherboard and it fit? There should be no different shapes ect. if it fits "perfectly". If not please explain what you mean by "The cord fits perfectly. but the shapes are different".

Ok, i dont have a problem with the 24 pin connector. My problem is the CPU Cord the 8 pin connector. the shapes on the connectors dont match the shapes on the motherboard. but it fits fine. is that ok to start up the computer?

If it fits perfectly, the shapes aren't different. Your fine to start your computer up, and if it has no power for whatever reason, you system will shutdown in precaution so your Motherboard/CPuUdon't get damaged.

Are you sure you aren't trying to use an 8-pin PCI-e power cable?
