XBOX ONE DRM

Recently I've seen a number of people who are unhappy with the DRM change, mostly because they do not understand it and only cared about the couple of good things it would bring. However. There is a dark side to DRM that if more gamers understood, they would be totally opposed to it. Keep in mind before reading this full post, and making a reply, I intend totally on purchasing the XB1 but I would like to make sure the DRM stays away. To insure this I am taking it upon myself to educate those who do not know much about DRM. Now let's begin.

THE DARK SIDE

The one, most important thing I believe most people did not understand about DRM is that you do not actually own any game you purchase. In fact. DRM stands for 'Digital Rights Management.' Which means exactly what it implies, they would have the right to manage your digital data. If you still don't understand, allow me to explain further. When you purchase a game with DRM you aren't literally purchasing it, you are simply purchasing the right to use the license to play the game. It would make XBL a lot like steam, which many will argue "But that's great! steam is awesome!" However, on steam if you are banned for any reason whatsoever, even if it's a mistake on behalf of them or a glitch in the system you lose all rights to the games you have purchased automatically. Even if you have built a $700 collection it is irrelevant, it is simply gone. There is a reason that many people like myself so fervently opposed the DRM policies, we understood what is bad about DRM not just just the goody goody sugar coating that was done to it to show "Sharing is easier now!" "No need for discs!" Just remember to look for the dark side in everything, don't take things at face value, always do research.

Thank you for reading this post, have a great day!

Absolutely, I'm fine with people having an opinion. I would just rather have their opinion formed by fact. Also. What on earth are you talking about? "Verdigrised" is not a word.

Major Nelson did confirm a long time ago that if you get banned on the Xb1 with the DRM policy you would keep all the right to the games you bought. Meaning you wouldn't lose them. Great post though!
