You can clean your laser with a cotton swab very carefully and if that won't work try finding a tutorial on how to move your POT screws located behind the laser in the disc drive.

Only downside is that they are very sensitive and require a certain tool so you can be aware of how much you're moving them.

That would be the only legitimate fix for your disc tray not being able to read discs.

Taking apart your xbox here is the only option you will require a torx t8 screwdriver and a torx t10 security screwdriver full instructions on how to take it apart and fix your problem can be found on youtube. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE A WARRANTY. If you happen to have a warranty just return it to microsoft or whoever you have your warranty with and they should either fix it or replace the console.

i agree but if your not under warrenty u can just replace the dvd drive its about 35 to 50 dollars but it has to be the same type of ddvd drive as the original becouse it has to be compatable with your motherboard
