I feel kinda dumb for asking this but I don't know what's going on.
I copied a song from my computer into my iTunes.
I want to add the Artist and everything so I go to click on it. And
instead of highlighting on letting me edit the Artist and what not
like normal it does nothing. Is there something about the file that
makes me not able to edit it or what.

If I correctly understood your question.
Right click on the song/movie, show in windows explorer, select all songs from album, right click, properties, untick read only in attributes.
