Hey, I've got an iPhone 5 without a SIM card, so I planned on unlocking it later today. I know how to check the requirements for the unlock, etc. But I was wondering, if after it was unlocked, how would I go about activating it? I know that my 3 options are Straight Talk, AT&T, and T-Mobile, (the phone is AT&T) but I'd rather not buy a SIM card that would require me to sign up for a plan with a carrier. I've read that they do not make prepaid Nano-SIM cards from AT&T for the iPhone 5, so I was wondering if there are any other options to this? Something that I would just be able to activate via SIM card. If there is a carrier that supports a prepaid plan on it that I could use after unlocked that would be great.

Long story short, I was given a fully functional iPhone 5 without a Nano SIM, I plan on unlocking it later today but I want to activate it without buying a plan from AT&T/Straight talk/ T-Mobile. I would like to be able to get a prepaid Nano SIM for it, but to my knowledge they do not exist.

Any suggestions?

If you choose Straight Talk you are able to purchase a micro sim card for $14.99 without having to sign up for a contact. I would still check with Straight Talk to see if the iPhone 5 is compatible with their network.

All you need to activate it is a sim card. Just go to AT&T, tell them you need a new nano sim card, and tell them not to activate it, they may or may not charge your like $10 for the card. Pop it into your 5 to get through the iOS activation then you can use any carrier and plan you like, once its unlocked of course.
