You could go with the GTX 760, they're much the same performance wise. The GTX 760 is a better overclocker than the 7950. The 7950 is a little bit better than the 760 but the 760 has the advantage of newer components and PhysX which offers more FPS in certain games.

What are the newer components? And would my coolers be able to keep it low? Is that GPU smaller?

The newer components are newer components. Do some research on it if it really matters what they are. I'd go with either the Gigabyte windforce cooled one or the Asus DirectCUII one. The Gigabyte windforce one will be much the same length as the 7950 you were going to get as it uses the same cooler. The DirectCUII card is the biggest of the none reference cards. It's a lot more beefier.
