Unity would be great but since you want a 2d game I would not bother, Xna is an excellent library for C# or just use Java's built in libraries
. 2D games will not be that hard but first you must obviously understand the programming logic by looking at some youtube videos. In this case you can't run before you walk, you must crawl and learn to walk.

Lol. i would suggest you get any ideas of making first person games such as halo out of your head for now. it takes a large team of very experienced programmers to develop such things. And if you have no programming knowledge it will not happen until the far future. anyways, if you want to learn game development i suggest you learn c++, you can make 2d shitty games, all the way to halo games with C++, but it is alot of work for a beginner, just to make a shitty 2d game.

If you want to make games and you have no programming experience I would recommend a program called Game Maker, It can make pretty decent games, providing you have the imagination. Also a 3D game such as Halo is a lot more complex than you think, not only will you need a lot of programming experience and some friends to help out, but you also need to be able to make 3D models and animations, if I were you stick to 2D however providing you don't want your game to be online multi-player, local multi-player is pretty easy and simple.
