Im just wondering if you can play single player with a friend?

no but you can play gta online doing missions with your friend. But you have to wait for little while.

There is nothing wrong with asking a question...soo in answer to your question no you wont be able to do single player missions with your frineds but when GTA online is released there is a complete separate missions you will be able to do with your friends.
