So about a month ago my computer broke or I fried something. Now when I turn it on I get nothing on my monitor but turns on fine. I also have intergrated graphics in my AMD processor. Recently I have decided to do some troubleshooting and I was wondering if all motherboard accept any video cards. I have a F2A85-V Pro motherboard and I tried to put in an NVIDIA Geforce card and I got the same black screen result. Would I need to test an AMD Radeon card for troubleshooting or what?

AMD or Nvidia cards will work identically the same with any processor.

AMD CPU doesn't mean a AMD GPU will work better together. If a GPU is going to work, it will regardless of the brand.

Do you know exactly what you "fried"?

But yes, your motherboard can support any GPU out today.

And also... I tested a geforce card from like 2005 so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. And I have absolutely no idea what I fried. And I don't know how to figure it out. I miss my desktop.

So what happens when you push the power button?

Like do the fans spool up then die, or does it just stay dead?

Or is it just that the screen doesn't come on???

Well when my computer first died the fans spooled up and died. But NOW it turns on but that's it. Nothing on monitor.

So you can't get into the BIOS at all?

But it sounds like either your Output cable is dead or the on board GPU ain't working.

My cable is working because I tested it with my laptop. If the onboard gpu isn't working then wouldn't a new video card fix it? That's why I think it's the motherboard but idk I'm not too knowledgeable on this.

Well if you damaged the APU's integrated GPU you may have fried the whole thing, as the GPU is in built with the CPU.

So if you can use a cheap GPU or a friends one, i would recommend doing that.

Well I just tried that old NVIDIA card and it didn't work. So it's probably the processor that is fried?
