RATING BETA RELEASE TODAY - 2PM BST
Full Game Release Date: 27/10/13 - First release will not include custom parts
Hi, I am currently making a game that will be completely free, its called PC Dev Tycoon, I got my inspiration from Game Dev Tycoon. I would like to ask you guys for ideas for features to add to the game. The main point of the game is to develop computers and try and make lots of sales. So far these are the ideas I have come up with:
Case Design - choose from options
Parts (can be bought from companies or custom made - you have to research for custom made)
Motherboard
RAM - 512mb - 32gb
CPU - 1-8 cores, 1.8GHz - 4.8GHz, Hyperthreading
GPU - Up to 8gb dedicated mermory
Power Supply - 100w - 2kw
Operating System - Use Macrosoft Doors, Banana Nac OS, Winux or make your own
If you have more ideas that would be great, I would also like some funny names for some knock off companies, my favourite ideas will get REP
EDIT: I will hopefully also have a feature where, when you make the pc, you choose its purpose, eg Heavy Gaming, General Use, Software Developing. and if you make your pc suit this purpose, you will get better ratings and more sales.
EDIT 2:
I am finally starting the bit where you actually make your PC. below is a link to 10 screenshots of the game so far (use the numbers above the picture to see the other pictures)

RELEASE TODAY
Later today I will be releasing the game as it is, this doesn't include:
-Research
-Hire/Fire Staff
-Develop New Part
-Marketing
I am releasing it as it is like this because I would like some feedback on the rating system and the game so far in general. A download link will be added to the main post within the next hour or two so make sure to keep checking.

this could become a popular game, if it goes well id defiantly play it. though under cases dont forget test bench's.
And maybe a research part to the game to unlock new features like single core tech to dual core. and increase ram speed ect

thanks, and all the numbers next to the features i have listed are the min and max, you start off low then have to research to get the higher stuff. the game will be release once I think it has enough features to actually play it, then i will release updates as i make them.

I'd hate to be the one that says this but that idea really doesn't sound interesting. I honestly can't see how a game where you make computers and sell them is fun. What you're trying to say is you plan to make a computer repair shop simulator? Personally that just doesn't appeal to me. Though, I'm sure some others may disagree with me on that one.
Also I think you're brushing over the fact that these types of games are not as easy as they look. Unless of course you have considerable experience with game programming? Then I'd love to see you prove me wrong but I don't think that will happen.
Felt the need to be a bit blunt there.

I can answer to both of your here.
I am using a program called game maker, this program makes making games easier (tho still not that easy) than other programs/engines because you can use drag and drop or coding (i mostly use code tho,). That's why this game will be easier than some might think for me to make. I also have a fair bit of experience in both program and game making so it is really down to time rather than difficulty.
I understand that it may not be a game for everyone, there are games I don't enjoy however others do, but I hope when i finish it, you try it out to see if I can change your mind
