The only way is being commended by a lot of people online, or gaining rewards.

How do you become a bad sport so that I know how to avoid it?

Yep, same here, keep getting spawn killed by some c*nt in a tank... blew my entity up as well.

No, me and my friends learned to embrace bad sport mode. We all got bad sport and kept blowing up eachothers cars til we had 10 days of it left. I find these lobbies 10x more fun than regular lobbies. That's my opinion though, good luck getting out of it! also doing awards helps shorten your time.
