Another thing. The Boston Bombers they didn't even have guns. They had make-shift bombs, cops didn't know. They are not going to racially profile someone, and the bombers ended up doing massive damage.

Cops have to look at every situation as if it's a life or death. Whether it's a routine traffic stop or a 12 year old kid with a pellet gun.

This is a terrible accident but you CANNOT put the blame on the cop.

For all of you saying "The cop should have known blah blah blah".
It even says it in the title, it is a REPLICA gun. Made to look like a real one.

Even though he is a kid, that doesn't take away from the capabilities in being able to shoot someone.

Tragic accident. No one is to be blamed here.

Yea he didnt listen to the cops but still that is no excuse to kill him, he isnt doing any harm, the cop could have just slowly walked up to him and took the gun instead of killing him

It does say that he turned and as he did the barrel raised to face the police.
If I was a cop I wouldn't want to wait until he fired first, it's pretty much instinct to fire if you see someone turning to point a gun at you.

Then again, it really comes down to whether you can trust that story or not.

This situation just shows that the police force in the United States has too much power. They should adopt the military policy of...

ONLY shoot when shot at.

Its honestly sad. I had a close encounter to the police with my airsoft guns a while back when I was younger, im glad they didnt pull a gun on me!

But I found this on reddit, this is a comparison to the 13 year old boys gun, compared to the real deal.

The cop told him to drop the weapon twice, that doesn't give him the right to shoot him. He could have did something else like tackle him or something. The kid probably didn't know he was talking to him, that is probably why he kept walking. Jesus, cops always give themselves a reason to pull their gun out.

Last I checked cops out in California don't walk around neighborhoods, nor ride horses around. So where is the dash cam footage of this encounter? If a police officer sees someone with a weapon they usually hide behind their car door as well. So the dash cam footage will show all the evidence they need. And also, the barrel on the toy the kid had on him did look kinda fake, I even asked my nephew which he thought was fake he said the toy one was too obvious because it looks like it's made out of plastic.
