Update: Only works right when you get bad sport so if you already have it I don't think it would work.
When you load up GTA V Online and you're a bad sport, it says the time you must serve in the bad sport lobby.
Immediately when you see your time remaining, dashboard as fast as you can.
Start GTA 5 up again and wait for singleplayer to load up.
Once you have loaded up, hit start then scroll on over to online and pick the option go.
When you join a session you will no longer have the dunce cap or be in a bad sport lobby.
The reason this works is because you get the Bad Rep by local driven save data when you first load up online. When you dashboard you interrupt the sync process and don't get reported therefore losing bad sport.

Does the time have to come up when you first load up online for it to work?

I don't think so i'm pretty sure you can do it whenever it pops up because that's when it checks with the local driven save data but i'm not positive.
