If you didnt quit out right when you realized it was an xp lobby you deserved it.
The modder did his part and you chose to get the benifit from it.
If you didnt gain a single point of modified xp then I can understand why you are upset but if you gained any sort of unfair experience advantage unfortunately my friend you had it coming .
It's a cruel world you need to look out for yourself because obviously Microsoft or any modder out there will not feel pitty just because you experienced a bit of modified gameplay and got punished for it.
And as a side note its safe to expect a reset on call of duty ghosts aswell.

Unfortunately bro that's why modding isn't always good for everybody.
Sometimes when there's a shootout people who aren't involved are fatally wounded .
This is just a perfect example of why or why not people should be modding new games online
I feel your pain my friend I would be devastated if I had spent the money only to be banned.
Just try not to be sour about it because the only person who did something wrong was the modder.
Not Microsoft , Not you.
But in this specific situation you were the one who was punished and I do feel for your loss of time.
