Ah i retract my previous comment then, i didn't know you create content. From that standpoint it would be worth it even with some sort of budget.

In any case I wouldn't say its future proofing from a market standpoint, but more adaptability for what you want it to do. Most hardware will be EOL within a year or two from its release so nothings truely future-proof but X79 does offer the choice to buy one motherboard, then load it up with any mix of cards, like multi-GPU's, RAID, ethernet etc.

From that standpoint it would be worth it, especially as from one store in the UK, a 4820K is 20GBP less than a 4770k.

i personally like amd but do understand fully that intel is a better way to go. i tend to do budget builds so i have been with amd and i have to say the experience i have had is quiet good.

is sad that after the 9590 they discontinued the fx so they could do more work on the apu side which i feel will improve greatly (but never beat intel)

I will need a 2011 platform (for a 4930k) for heavy video rendering & i need the pci-e x16 lanes (will try to find a p9x79-ws mobo if possible) and i will Alot of expansion cards and 2-3gpus + i will need the ram & quadchannel support.

I personally went for AMD when I built my PC because I ain't made of money and when it comes to performance to price, I believe AMD wins that race. I mean its not as if there is a HUGE difference in performance between the 2 unless you're constantly staring at the stats of them.

I went with AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core and am yet to encounter any processor performance issues.

Thatswhy amd is great for budget builds, they offer great performance at a lower price.

Should rename the thread to AMD FX Series CPU's - Will they blend?

Although I definitely wouldn't recommend them the 9370 and 9590 are now MUCH more reasonably priced, with the 9590 at 170 pounds and the 9370 somewhere halfway between that and the 8350. Surely it isn't still 440 dollars in the US?
