processor - 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
memory - 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

its the rendering that takes forever and makes it run slow the whole computer. i get the (spinning wheel)

Check your RAM and CPU usage. If your RAM is maxed out, you would benefit from an upgrade. Faster memory will actually improve your graphics performance as well because the integrated GPU uses system memory.

My brother had a Mac Book Pro with 8GB of ram and often will have quite a few windows open such as Music Editing Programs and big ones and he has not complained about the computer yet. Maybe upgrade the ram or get a new computer.
Check for viruses and Maybe defrag. I dont know if mac's can do that.
