Fly it as close as you can,then use motorcycles to move it. Motorcycles don't do very much damage. Make sure to only push on the rocket tubes and nothing else.

A tank stolen holds modz much better the one created with the editor. After stealing one,drive it into Michel's house garage.Stay in the tank and save. Then it should show up as personal vehicle in the editor. Edit it there.
