With the level 60 ship can you just climb on board kill all the crew then the ship won't attack you?

Yeah, I've actually done that. If you swim to a ship and kill all of its inhabitants, then swim back to your ship and shoot at it once, it automatically destroys itself with one hit allowing you to board the ship easily. Really good idea if you have a weak ship and want to get a big haul by defeating a man o' arms (think that's what it's called). To swim to the ship, you'd have to hold B and use stealth swim the whole time because there's a sniper on board that shoots at you till you get onto the ship.
