I don't see why you're getting so much hate.
He can rant about a word without asking people to stop using it.
There are a lot of words that are overused.
If you'd have said Swag or Yolo, instead of Lel, you probably wouldn't be getting any hate.

I don't really have a problem with it, and even use it from time to time, but if it bugs you then it bugs you, not much you can do about it.
