Hey everyone, i just wanted to know what all i would have to worry about with buying a new processor, like if my power wattage would be okay or anything like that.

I'm trying to get to where i can run DayZ with at least 60+ frames, and I went to this website and it is telling me that i should have a better processor to run it. (Screen shot on I'mgur)

Now I'm thinking about saving up and getting a Intel i5, and i don't know if my PC will be able to run it without messing it up, I apologize if i sound like an idiot right now, I just got into the whole PC scene and I'm not to bright on it.

My specs are:
GFX Card: Ge-Force GT 630
OS: Windows 7
Ram: 8gigs (2 Four Gig ram sticks)
Wattage:680W
Processor atm:AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor

not to sure what else to put, just ask me in the comments. thanks!

The Gpu is the bigger problem here, not the Cpu. Upgrading that would give you a bigger benefit.

Depends what your budget is really. You'd need a new motherboard if you wanted an i5 and the i5 themselves aren't cheap.

You'd be spending money well by going the AMD FX route with a better GPU then you'd have a better all round system.

Like Buxtyy mentioned, i5 processors aren't that cheap. The AMD FX Series is very solid and as mentioned previously, your GPU is your main issue. What kind of budget are you on? If you tell us that much, we will be able to find you a GPU in that price range that will do fine.

I could spend about 400-500 all together

If I were you I'd be looking at a FX 6300 and a 270X/280X. With that you'd be able to max out every game you want to play. Including DayZ.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] personally is what I would get if it were my system. But it is all personal preference to be honest.

Could you link me to the 280x?
