You'll need a Windows disc to perform a full wipe and re installation of the operating system.

The activation code will be written on a COA or a Certificate of Authenticity somewhere on the laptop. It is usually on the underside with the product key under the barcode.

Some people online recommending downloading a program called MagicJellybean which apparently can read your systems registry to locate the key, however I have never tried it and you download at your own risk.

That won't be the key that was under your laptop. Most laptops and prebuilt computers never come with a windows disc, and instead come with a recovery partition on the system. When the system starts it may give you the option to enter the BIOS, or hit a key to enter into a recovery mode. That may give you the option to create recovery media that could reinstall windows for you.

You could try contacting the support department of the company that make your laptop and they may be able to help with a solution to your product key issue.

You could wipe your computer fully which would delete and result in you re downloading windows/Linux depending on the computer you use or even mac, but yea that is a option but it does take time and removes everything you ever had on that computer....
