I agree, but like the post above me has said, nobody can label someone as undeserving, but you can label someone as less deserving.
If you have a member with 7000+ Posts, a 5:1 Useful/Unuseful post ratio, and 800+ Thanks on their topics, it's obvious that they deserve gold more than the guy who joined yesterday looking for a modded lobby on a game who just wants it to 'try it out and change my name lel.'

Sometimes these differences are overlooked, and they really shouldn't be.
People shouldn't gift gold just so they get the badge, they can by all means do that if they want to, but the point this post is making is that they shouldn't.

I think your forgetting how it affects the rest of TTG though. When someone who absolutely doesn't deserve get's gifted for no reason, they go into the Gold Forums and just start spamming "I GOT GOLD HAHA" and just go around leeching.

It is their money and they should use it how they should. If they choose to support the site, then let them. I do agree though, they should gift people worthy of being gifted.

I have only gifted people that have deserved it, and some of these members are more recognised than others. But I gift if I feel that they deserve it.

If someone spends a while making a good post and continue to help people, while being nice about it I might gift them, it depends whether I have some money. But if someone makes a post in the General discussion asking for it I won't gift them.

I just like gifting random people. I don't gift people for any certain reason. If I feel like gifting then they're getting gifted.
I won't gift someone that asks for it though, it just comes off like they're begging for it.
