Tell your mother about the box being open and ask her if you can turn it on just for testing thats what i did 2 weeks ago still playing mine to this day she forgot

well they had to of done something with all those consoles having issues. I hope that's not the case with you, but it could be possible..

If it is, is there any way to tell as I'm gonna complain if it is. The box even has a sticky label over someone else's order number ffs

If it is a refurbished console, that should have been made known to the purchaser. The may have omitted that fact, but if it was a refurb it should of cost a little less than a brand new console. Plus I wouldn't worry if it was a refurb, its less risky than buying a brand new one and risking getting a broken one. Atleast the refurb was tested before they could resell it.

Could of been one they had on display in a window and packaged it back up for yourself
