Yeah I'm down in the Houston area lol small world!
WJL wrote those rotaries on the rx8's are horrible and break a lot, so i'd look into something else.
also, dont go with jap if you want a sports car loll.
And no there's a lot of Japanese sports cars that are amazing just look at the Mx5 that basically single handed started the hole small light sports car HYPE small motor not much power but light as hell and a very good sports car then you have all of the Toyota Supra series, Then the STI's though there 4 doors still pretty sporty car and the EVO's just a like, The 90's Toyota Corolla's aren't that bad, Honda Civic are very good little cars, then last the old Datsun 240Z's are amazing cars,
and all of them cars are Fing Great!
did you just call a Honda Civic a great sports car?
i called a honda civic a good STARTER car dude, dont you know how to read? and theres plenty of great imported japanese sports cars just depends what your into and judging from what you said i can safely assume your into american muscle? which i also like but real car enthusiast should be able to respect every type of car and if you can you good sir have no respect
Oh i have respect for certain models for a wide range of cars, but if you're going to say a civic is a good car sports car then you shouldn't be near a car lol.
no where in there did you mention STARTER, and considering we were on the topic of sports cars, i assumed you called a civic a sports car. So yes, I do know how to read.

Yes i did there great little cars not much for my taste but for some people maybe, I Prefer a big V-8 in the front of the car with RWD but there are many people that like the 4-cylinder FWD Honda's, Example the 2002 Acura RSX 2-door FWD with a K20 i think? My friend has one and it's a nice little sporty car, And it's really easy to mod and make more power for cheap and it's pretty light also and very safe lol.
So yes i said SPORTY! go facepalm you're self bud

Don't get a rx-8. Rotary engines may be cool. But when it comes to maintenance its really high in price.
I would buy a s2000 with your kind of budget. Even better. I would buy a 200sx/240sx and the buy performance parts for it. I know you said your new to cars. But with that kind of budge i would buy a 90's sports car, then tune it up. Such as a Turbo for instance.

Your first car isn't going to be the best car you are going to get. I bought my first car when I was 16 just to get around.
Once you have a steady job that pays well, you can then go and spend a bigger budged on better cars. You can also get a line of credit for a more expensive car and pay it off over a number of years. I would just wait off on the sports car for a little while, and buy one later on if you so desire.
