Of course it is. Although certain aspects may not be very important to your daily life. The subject in general is important. History is learning from the past. If we didn't we'd be dead as a society. If you don't remember that fire is hot and learn from either experience of scolding from elders you'll (or someone) will eventually try it. Its a stretch, but you know what I mean.

TL;DR Yes, learn from mistakes and choices made in history so you don't allow them to happen again.

I believe learning the history of the planet and how it was formed it important, and well as ancient civilizations. It's also important to learn about your country as well, so you actually know stuff about the place you live in

Yes it is. I know you'll hear a lot of people say They're dead who cares. The truth is that if you don't learn history, it can and will repeat itself. That's just from my point of view

I personally feel as if some subjects are absolutely pointless (to me), and my mindset before in high school was "If I don't see that this will benefit me, I'm not going to try."

I thought like that (and it reflected) from my Freshman year all the way up until right before I went into my Senior year, and I was talking to a teacher who said, "You're never going to use 95% of the things you learn in high school. You're not going to need any of this information for anything, besides college. You learn this stuff to get through college."

I can see where he says that, and of course if you want to be an English, Science, Mathematics, or History teacher than you'll need it, but why learn it if you're not going to use it (and enjoy it)?

I want to major in business, which will take a variety of subjects to be educated in, but there are some things I just flat-out won't use because of the field I'm wanting to go in.

I think it's just for the GPA. It shows people hiring you (both in high school, college, and even after) that you know how to multitask, work hard and have the capabilities of learning a variety of different things.

This response goes way beyond "History" or any one subject singled out, but there are my thoughts and personal history (no pun intended) on the matter.
