Yeah, a 600W PSU should handle that gear fine. XFX 550W OR 650W would do the trick.

Incorrect. Many people may not like the layout on windows 8, however in some games windows 8 can improve performance than windows 7. I think most people don't like the window layout on the start screen. Its pretty old (not saying its bad), but some people may just want it because its the newest windows OS.

on the power supply subject would it have an effect if i bought 2 8gb ram sticks would i then need a more powerful power suply or will the current 1 be compatible with the requirements

Windows 8 gets more FPS in games.
Has faster boot times.
Can make it work like Windows 7.
Has in built Apps.
What is a bad point?
The MetroUI belongs on touch devices yes, but the OS doesn't.
