SnowingModz wrote They are completely legal to have, what is illegal, and punishable by law, is the use of any sort of modified dashboard, online or offline. essentially making Jtags illegal. This is punishable with up to a $250,000 fine and i believe a year in jail.

Its the same as pirating movies... the chances youll get in trouble are slim.

the actual physical modification that is considered (when finished) a "Jtag" is considered "Jailbreaking" and is not punishable, this is your property Microsoft can not fors laws upon a product that is not theirs.

No modified dashes are ok and modding is legal but just copying games are

According to Microsoft they are because inside of every are pieces that Microsoft "owns". But in reality they are not illegal, they only break the terms of use and because of that, that is why consoles get banned and you have to flash a new KV into them.

But if you are using the Jtag to run an iso then that is illegal because you are playing a pirated game which is illegal

no nothing about them is illegal not even going online m$ just doesnt like it otherwise they would arrest a few people with jtags to make an example out of them but burning games illegally and playing them is illegal but the jtag itself is legal because the drive could be flashed to play back-ups
