Back when I was experimenting with lucid dreaming, I purposely put myself into a sleep paralysis state as that is part of the lucid dreaming process. For me though I never saw any "shadow people" but at one point I freaking out cuz it felt like someone was sitting on my chest and I couldn't breathe so I closed my eyes and after 3 seconds or so I fell asleep and went to the lucid dreaming state. Sleep paralysis is a real thing but personally I've never, and don't ever want to, experience seeing the shadow people while paralyzed

Really never heard of any of this. I just get home, do what I have to do and go to bed. Really don't want to be experimenting with my brain or body anymore than I have to. Just by reading this I feel kind of freaked out.

Sleep paralysis exists. It's when you wake up before your body comes out of REM sleep. REM sleep practically paralyzes the body, so if you wake up in REM sleep you may not be able to move for some time. The part with mystic beings is probably your body and brain returning to sleep stage 1 or 2, where hallucinations are most likely to occur.

Sleep paralysis can lead to either lucid dreaming or being a gateway for astral projection.

All three are real. I can assure you.

I believe it. I, myself, have had night terrors and I don't think it's too different... Really scary. Hallucinations, unable to speak or move etc, etc.

Sleep Paralysis is a very real thing. Shadow people on the other hand are not, as far as I'm aware of. You are in a dream state while awake at the same time so you are pretty much hallucinating, which makes it feel like a very real experience.

It is incredibly hard to lucid dream. I just can't sleep flat on my back. After some time, I have to move to my side.

How can you even make yourself go into a sleep paralysis?
