I see what you mean by living forever but we are meant to die and pass on to wherever or whatever else we become..

Longer lives, maybe. As for forever, I don't think that will ever be the case. There is a theory that the universe will collapse on itself. I feel that is the way the universe works, always expanding and collapsing in a loop forever. Once it collapses, goodbye everything and everyone.
