I'll be upgrading in around 6 months and I'm looking at:

Msi Z87 Gaming MOAB Socket 1150: link [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Are these good or is there a better option, ps my pc specs at the moment:
CPU: AMD A8-5600K Trinity 3.6GHz
RAM:16gb of 1333mhz ddr3 ram module
Hard Drive: 3.5" 1TB sata III
GPU: Msi R9 290
Motherboard: Gigabyte fm2 ga-f2a85xm-d3h
Case: Z11
PSU: CX750w from corsair
Yes i know its unblanced its because i bought a pre-made pc (i know noob move) but i upgraded the case psu and gup for xmas and it a build in progress - thanks if you read this

In 6 months the new 800 series will most likely be released and possibly the next gen on intel processors
the mobo is good I have it bios is easy to use
and the cpu there is very good and reliable great for gaming

The new Intel processors are rumoured to come out in 2015-2016 , So im not sure on that.
And im building with that mobo tomorrow. How good is it?

Actually they are going to be called Broadwell series, and they're coming around the same time as DDR4 and the 800 series of GPU's if i am correct.

You usually get a tick-tock system with Intel, and no i've not drunk too much scotch (yet).

Tick was the new platform we got in 2013 (Haswell) so we got new chipsets and a new socket (LGA1150).

Tock will be a new range of processors on currently existing chipsets and the 1150 socket. Usually its every year, so i'd imagine June/July this year for Broady.
