Today, Juan Mata has completed his 37.1m move from Chelsea to Manchester United in a record transfer deal for the reigning Premier League champions.
Can he fix United's season? Well...
Watch a rerun of the defeat by Sunderland for confirmation. In Moyes's defence he was without Rooney and Van Persie but, Januzaj apart, United were pretty much the word that was unmentionable under Sir Alex Ferguson - dull.
Moyes will have the pleasant task of fitting 25-year-old Mata into what looks like an overcrowded area but watching United struggling in vain for a spark against Sunderland was an illustration of why the purchase makes sense.

The key for Moyes is finding the right position for the Spaniard. He is not a winger and he is not a central midfielder, so it will be intriguing to see how the former Everton manager solves this conundrum.
Even allowing for absentees, the loss to the Black Cats - where United were lacking in ideas for the most part - simply added weight to the logic of bringing in Mata.
It may seem odd in the context of a team that won the Premier League last season but Manchester United simply do not have enough high-quality players. Mata is one such player, United can afford him and he is better than much of what they have. So do the deal.

United's got a top Spanish Midfielder and I believe is a step forward to success.

united will finish 3rd AT BEST.
Juan will help he's a great player but he is an attacking pllayer and thats not what they need the defence and midfield behind him is awful

I am gutted to see him leave Chelsea however I feel he's not the right type of player they need in their midfield, they need a replacement for Scholes. He surely will create more chances and score more goals but for me it all depends on how Moyes fits him into his team, he's going to change the formation and it could make or break Utds season! this will certainly be a point we'll be looking back at in May. I can Utd snatching 4th if they manage to pick up some form quickly.

i put no because although he is a qulaity player united need more to get there season going. it's just 1 good player surrounded by 10 average ones. until rooney returns anyway. not sure about rvp anymore might struggle after this injury

He's a great player but he won't single handedly turn their season around. The main problem that Moyes has is where to put him in a 4-2-3-1 formation, considering Rooney usually plays CAM behind RVP and then Januzaj and Young on the right/left. Kagawa can also play CAM like Mata and Rooney.

If RVP and Rooney come back soon and start scoring, at best United can finish 4th. They still need a revamp in Defence and defensive midfield.

I'm a Chelsea fan, Its been difficult these past weeks seeing Mata leave to United. Especially as your one of our biggest rivals.

He's a world-class player and you're incredibly lucky to have him.

However, As good as he is he's not what you needed. Personally I thought you needed your midfield (centre/defensive) and defence strengthening. Even some United fans would back me up on this.

In terms of Juan himself, I have no doubts he'll be as good for you as he was for us as he's a class player.

Moyes plays negative football with a boring 442 formation.
Mata wont change nothing.

They need to sort their defence out not their midfield or attack!
