An 11-year-old boy has tried to commit suicide after he was bullied for being a fan of TV show My Little Pony, his family claims.

Michael Morones was found hanging off the top rail of his bunk bed in Raleigh, North Carolina, 11 days ago, news reports said.
He suffered brain damage because he was deprived of oxygen, and remains in hospital.
His parents say that he was pushed into it by bullies at school.
His mother Tiffany Morones-Suttle told the local station WTVD that her son was teased over the cartoon.
"Hes the kid that never walks. He dances everywhere," his mother said in the interview.
"Hes so full of energy. He's always on the move."
There has been no reaction from officials at the Wake County School District.
Fans of My Little Pony, known as "bronies", have started a fund to help the family at gofundme.com. So far they have raised almost $55,000 (33,000 GBP) - more than double the initial goal of $20,000 (12,000 GBP).

Personally, I don't really care what someone watches, then again, i'm not an 11 year old. They obviously aren't the most mature age group, but pushing someone to the point of suicide is immensely wrong, no matter what age you are.
I hope the consequences are severe and that this boy isn't seriously brain damaged for the rest of his life.

That's terrible. I think the parents of the bullies should be blamed for this. They didn't raise their kids right. They are 11 for Christ sakes. It shouldn't matter what show you watch. My heart goes out to the family.

Kids will like what they like. Too bad other kids can't accept that. I think bullying doesn't get dealt with in the right way because teachers/administrators don't take the right precautionary measures to prevent things like this from happening. I guess fingers could be pointed at the parents as well but, if they don't know about it then I guess there isn't much they can do.

I'm not being nasty but things like this happen all time and nobody notices it, I do feel sorry for the lad I'm just saying that everyone who gets bullied should be noticed and not just a few

Shocking, US schools need to get their act together and put together some real support for their kids, children should look for help for problems not want to kill themselves over it. Good on the MLP fans who did this though, really changed my mind on what I used to think about the MLP fans in the past.

It wasn't over a TV show, he was being bullied.
That's terrible that an 11 year old got pushed to that limit, the bullies parents should be dealt with as well as the bullies

I really don't get it.
Why bully someone just because they like a certain type of show?
That should be none of their business.

I wish he'd have waded through the tough times long enough to stop caring what they think. Bless his heart.
