This could be an alternative to safer firearms, without the need of further regulations and potential gun laws. What do you think?
The first so-called smart gun has hit the shelves at U.S. retail outlets, including one of the biggest firearms stores in California, according to the Washington Post.
The Smart System iP1, a .22-caliber pistol made by the German gun-maker Armatix GmbH, can only function with an accompanying wristwatch, which is sold separately.
When the RFID-equipped watch is activated by a PIN number and placed near the gun like when a shooter grips the handle it sends a signal to unlock the gun and a light on the back of the weapon turns green, according to the report. Otherwise, the firearm stays locked and the light on the back remains red, it stated.
The pistol sells for $1,399 and the watch retails for another $399 more than double the cost of .40-caliber Glock handgun, according to the article.
The company is betting that demand for the technology will increase as consumers seek guns modified for safety.

Here's a list of handguns and prices from Cabela: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
The price may or may not be a success, which I hope it will be but I hope it won't at the same time. If the prices are that high to get a "safe" (I'm saying it like that because people are led to believe that guns kill people) weapon, then everyone won't have a gun and supposedly there won't be as many school shootings, public shootings, etc.
So you can look at it either way. But no matter what you're not going to get rid of normal guns, it just won't work.

Stupid concept is stupid.
The only "good" this would do is not getting shot by your own gun. (Which when is being carried with a CHL hardly happens ever.)
Not only that, do you know how small a .22 caliber is?
You would have to shoot them in the head or directly in the heart to put them down for sure.
A person strung out on drugs could take that entire clip that gun holds if he was shot in the stomach, arms, etc.
In fact, someone not on drugs but with an adrenaline rush could take multiple bullets without going down.
Conclusion: Carry a .40 Caliber and not this joke of a gun.
edit: didn't mean to delete, lol.

nothin smart about it the point of a gun is to protect yourself if u need a watch to shoot the gun its going to do the exact opposite.if my house is getting broken into im gonna want to grab the gun and defend myself not go running around the house looking for a watch and then fumble around trying to enter in a pin number just so i can shoot it.lets not forget the part where people hide there bullets, clip and gun all in different places.

If your defending yourself with a gun, that doesn't mean you should kill the person who poses a threat to you. Its better if you don't kill the person, that way you wouldn't worry about getting charged for anything.

Pretty handing if you're a secret agent but if someone gets the jump on you it'll be easier for them to put the gun on you while you're still holding it anyway.

Stun guns, tazers, and mace are made not to kill people.

Concealed carry is there so if you fear for your life, you can take theirs.
If you care so much about your attacker living, carry mace or a stun gun.
