My incoherent thoughts on the matter:
This is it guys, all Pokemon you need to transfer to gen 6 must be done within the next 3 months (I believe that's how this will work). Complete those Pokedexs or just get whatever legendaries you need.
The shut down of online services for Pokemon gen 5 and below could cut the bridge between the newest generation to the older ones, which would make it much more difficult to actually "Catch 'Em All" for quite a while. This could open a new realm of possibilities such as new remakes like the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald remake many fans have been dying to see made. This could also mean that GameFreak new that this would happen and that is a reason why they created "PokeBank" which can hold thousands of Pokemon should you choose to use it.
Other games such as Mario Kart DS (for me personally) should probably be dusted off and used for online races one last time before they become just another shelved game passed it's prime.
Tell me guys, what was your fondest memories from any of the games listed above, or what do you wish you could play (or will be playing again) before the shutdown?

Alp wrote So basically pokebank was a waste then?I'm not sure on that yet, but maybe it's a way for people to stock up on Pokemon they need or feel they will need. This also gives a perfect excuse for people to return to the older generations just to start fresh to capture more legendaries to also stock up on. I was already in the middle of doing a nuzlocke of White 2 so I suppose I should hurry this up if I don't want anything left behind. There is also the off chance that transferring from gen 3 all the way up to 6 won't be affected. Sure the GTS goes offline, but Pal Park still exists so 3rd-4th gen still possible. Poke-transporter just needs the cartridge to read off of to get pokemon from 5-6 I think. However the only one that truly worries me is 4th-5th gen because that required 2 DS' on the same internet connection.
