Ok everyone so I recently got an offer I could not refuse so I took it. I was offered a pc, monitor, keyboard and mouse all for $100. Here is the problem. It is not the fastest thing for running games because it is old.

So I want to upgrade it for some better FPS on games like Rust, Dayz Mod, Dayz Standalone, Gmod, Infestation survivor stories, Minecraft and games like that. Here are the current specs and as I said before it is a VERY old pc. I got it because it was cheap for the whole bundle. Here we go.

Operating System
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit SP1

CPU
Intel Pentium D 820
SmithField 90nm Technology

RAM
2.00GB DDR2

Motherboard
Dell Inc. 0WG864 (Microprocessor)

Graphics
VA712 (1280x1024@60Hz)
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 6800 (NVIDIA)

Storage
149GB Western Digital WDC WD1600AAJS-08L7A0 (SATA)

Optical Drives
HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H31N

Audio
High Definition Audio Device

So what I want to know is where do I begin upgrading to get better fps. I would greatly love opinions and will try supply more in-depth details of each component if required

NOTE: These parts cannot be to expensive I just want to know what to get to IMPROVE the FPS not make it god like. In other words what are the best parts in terms of cost. Thanks!

(If possible tell me what effects the improvements will make in terms of FPS and don't sit there and say "Thats a shit old pc" I stated it was old and cheap...)

As much as you don't want to hear it, you're going to hear it. That PC is simply too old to justify spending any money to upgrade it; period.

I agree with him, sorry.

Just save your money for a new PC.

So you think I should save up to buy a new pc? I found one with these specs:

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core 4.0 GHz, upto 4.2Ghz Turbo 16MB Cache Socket AM3+ "Unlocked"

CPU COOLER: Corsair Hydro Series Quiet LIQUID COOLER

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 AMD 970 ATX SB950 Socket AM3+
----Supports AMD CrossFireX

Graphic: AMD Radeon R9 290 4Gb GDDR5

HD: Seagate/Western Digital/Hitachi 2TB SATA III

RAM: 16GB Dual Channel DDR3-1600 high performance

Sound: 8-channel High Definition

Optical Drive: 24x SATA Dual Layer DVD Writer

USB: 8 at back (include 2 x USB3.0s), 2 in front

That would be good for any gaming right?
