I'm not sure what to believe about this, as it is quite unlikely for a plane to lose all communications while at the same time crash (e.g from a hydraulic failure). Then again, why would a terrorist group crash a plane into the sea when they could have caused more damage by crashing it on land. I'm interested to know what happened when they find out.

So they basically flew around for a few hours, ran out of gas, and ditched in the ocean. Every terrorist is different, we may never know what they, (if it ends up being an attack) were thinking.

US_Airways wrote-Mark wrote More than likely there was probably a malfunction with the plane and it either crashed completely or crash landed.
If there was going to be a terrorist attack it would of already happened by now.
Time will tell.
If it crash landed, there would be a signal coming from a thing called an ELT, or Emergency Locater Transmitter, which is designed to survive high-impact G-Forces. If it crash landed, we most likely would've found it by now.
Yes considerring that it's an airliner and not just a small cessna. Also even if it landed in water the ELT would've went off.

There are multiple different ways of contacting whoever is required on an airplane.
A terrorist attack would stop maybe one - the pilot's headset.
At the same time, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack and from my point of view, I see no reason for any person or group to attack this flight.
So no, I don't think it was a terrorist attack.

Anybody else find it weird that a movie about terrorism in airplanes recently came out "Nonstop".
