steffess92 wrote The UK Government is phucked m8.

You cant get a job because our "disabled" and "hopeless" government is allowing migrants and asylum seekers from all over the world UK citizenship, thus increasing popularity and competition for jobs.

And most of these people are happy to work for LESS than the UK minimum wage.

No wonder people are racist these days... I'll say no more

That isnt a reason for people to be racist, I have worked part time with some Polish people and they are generally nice, they put 110% into the work they are doing unlike English people who slack off because they think they should be granted the right to a job

Sanctorum wrote I completely agree with this. I feel like it's impossible to become employed if you're under 18. I am 16 years old and am leaving school but have no job to go to, so I will just be lying around my house all day while my friends are at school.

I have 2 years of work experience in a fast paced, cooking environment and applied for work in KFC, I was rejected in less than 5 minutes. It's a pi$$ take IMO.

I'm in the exact same position ...
But the fact is, in the UK, you have to be in further education till 18, so I can't just stay at home. And I 100% do NOT want to go to college :sarcasm: So I have to get an apprenticeship...
huh? you dont have to be in education until 18 where did you get that from?!?

My application for my first aimed job was denied, it stressed me out because I couldn't find a better place to go for until 6 months later.

Lavish wrote I just think it is funny at the amount of people that think once you go to college there will be employers begging to hire you.

Exactly. I have been told the exact thing. "Oh if you go to college, you will easily get a job after it!" Well, no...

If I was to get an apprenticeship, I would have the possibility to be kept on. Therefore, having a job at the end. College, well if most people have an A level, then you won't stick out from the rest like people say you will...

In all honesty it is not that hard to get a job, you see that the majority of the UK are on benefits because they're either not qualified, to bone idle, or have a degree in blowing party poppers that nobody cares about. Or the simple matter is; your just not that good at what you do.

Granted your 16, your not exactly thriving with Work Experience; go around your local restaurants, bars, and pubs and look for some waiter/waitress work

Try to find a job in the restaurant business. I'm working at Texas Roadhouse as a bus boy since I'm only 18 and you have to 19 to serve. But once you do get a job bust your butt off. And that'll lead to greater things

Took me a year and 3 months from when I turned 16 to finally get a job lol I applied to everywhere even mcdonalds and never got a call back : / then I went on Craigslist and applied to a whole bunch of companies and suddenly had 3 interviews in a month, one of which got me the job! All the employees I work with are chill as hell and fun to work with as well my advice go on Craigslist the companies that post on there are the most desperate to hire!
