Most people do it as a way to bypass the 20 char limit. If you see people doing it in this case then report them for spamming to bypass the 20 chars. Some people do it to make it look more official. I don't see the need, I only do it in PM's. Most people are doing it now to annoy you. With that in mind.

It's just a ending signature in my opinion it doesn't bother me that much.

The main reason i find it annoying is that we can already clearly see there username on the mini-profile, there's really no need to put it again.
