Hey TTG community,
I need help with my Xenon JTAG that has the 0020 error code when I hold the sync button and press the eject button. I am pretty certain that I need to re-ball the CPU chip, but have no idea how to for sure. First off, let me elaborate on the history I've had on the console.
I have used this JTAG before with COD 4 to run my 11th prestige lobby many times. Back when it would just be an overheat, I would do the usual "unplug the fans and let it overheat then cool it off and turn it back on". This worked for about a month and it would only happen about every week. Finally this solution wouldn't work and I basically gave up on it until now.
So on Thursday, I bought some arctic silver 5 and cleaned the GPU and CPU and replaced the arctic silver 5. It worked, but since I didn't have my full system link set up yet, I turned it off and got it ready. Then, when I turned the JTAG back on it would load up to the xbox logo and go straight to red ring.
This is where I am now. I feel as if the problem is that of the solder balls under the CPU chip have gone bad and/or i need to re-ball the CPU. I can provide pictures via iPhone and photobucket. Thanks for the help everyone and sorry for the length of this post.

This error is more than likely caused by a cold solder joint under either the CPU, GPU, and/or at least one of the RAM bricks. The overheating method is very bad for the motherboard so I wouldn't do that anymore. The only thing left to try is to send it off to someone for a reball/professional reflow to see if that helps. Check out the shops people have set up over in the marketplace section for more information.

Sent it off for a professional reball - it'll probably set you back about 40-50.
I don't think there is anyone on this site who offers such services, so go and check out the TX forums as there are some very good Xbox repairs people there.

I have professional experience with reballing computer chips, and my ram chips are fine i have checked them thoroughly. I realize that the overheating method is bad for the motherboard but it was a temporary fix as I didn't realize that it would be this bad of a consequence. Thanks for the help!
