so i did a speed test and my internet speeds are 18.73 Mbps down and 5.23 Mbps up, and when i try to download an update for a game it downloads at 1 Mbps and stops then downloads at 1 Mbps then stops. Any advice? Can i fix this?

Can i fix this?Are you saying that it completely stops at 1mb download, like it wont download anymore data? or are you talking about it wont go any higher? if you mean it wont go any higher, thats how steam is designed. Its setup where you only uses a certain percent of your download speed.

it will download at 1MBps then pause, then go 1MBps then pause.

how new is your computer.
if its older you might need a new NIC otherwise it could just be your connection to the Steam marketplace servers, other than that i don't have a clue.

When downloading through steam, do you get the disk is busy red light. that pauses the download while it is reusing old data

the speed that the test shows is mega bits per second. download speeds are estimated by mega BYTES per sec. theyre completey different. my speed test shows im at 5 mega bits per second but my download speed is 500 kbs or .50 mega bytes per second. i can't be sure as i might be incorrect :/
