I would go for the I7
The AMD 8
Operating frequency is lower,
Does not support some instructions

Drawbacks:I7
Has fewer CPU cores

Lol, WUT?

The i7 Extreme will destroy any AMD CPU in any test.

But ask yourself OP, do you really need a 6 core i7.

What task will you be doing. and I hope that you understand that socket 2011 is just stupidly overkill.

Comparisons between clock speeds of different architectures are irrelevant.

HUSSIEN323 wrote Does not support some instructions

The differences in supported instruction sets are more or less irrelevant to this comparison.

HUSSIEN323 wrote Drawbacks:I7

The hexacore i7s actually have 12 threads and AMD's implementation of core modules makes all FX CPUs not "true" 8/6/4 core CPUs.

What IS relevant to this comparison is the fact that the cheapest current-gen hexacore i7 (4930K) is nearly three times as expensive as the 8350.
