Oib wrote so im currently in the proccess of upgrading my phone,You want the M8 trust me, SuperAMOLED display is ass, Ive had my s3 for just over a year and it has terrible image burn. Its not just my phone either. Multiple AMOLED displays get it after a while. plus the whole touchwiz interface is garbage. All the bloat wear that samsung has is just to much. Ive never owned any of the HTC's but i garuntee that its a whole lot better. Then any galaxy.

for battery, the s5. it features a new design for power usage so can last 60+ hours on just 10% battery.
functionality but less performance, the m8
as for the screen its all new and improved so nothing like the s3, my experiences with htc is something as lacking, ether performance or sound or memory

That's a tough one, but if it were my money, I'd get the S5...
There is always something leading the Galaxy series to victory. My S4 Zoom hasn't put a foot wrong since i got it.
