Hello guys,

I've finally decided to get into PC gaming, only problem is I need a build to get me started and easily upgradable in the future. I was going to do it on my own and start from scratch but my parents were nice enough to get me a fairly old machine but still has some decent specs I could use from it.

The comp they gave me is an Inspiron 560.
Specs are as listed:
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5700 processor 3.0GHz, 800MHz Front Side Bus, 2MB L2 Cache
4GB DDR3 SDRAM
500GB SATA hard drive
16X Multi-format DVD Burner

I was thinking sense my budget is only around 500$ that I would keep the HDD, Burner and Case, but would need a new processor, 8 gigs RAM (for now), and a fairly decent Graphics card. I want to either run x64bit Win7 or make it a Steam Machine (SteamOS). Also I'll need a wireless adapter but I can get that later.

This is where I need you guys that know computers fairly well to help me build up the machine. Like I said my budget is 500$(US) and I want it to run newer games around 60fps on med-high.

This is a very tight budget, I couldn't build a gaming rig with it.
I suggest you save up for a bit.
Also I don't think you'll be able to use the case. The only good parts are the HDD and CD drive.

Thanks for the quick reply, my parents are fairly nice since I don't have a job right now and will pay more if it's truly something I want (which it is).

How much would I need and what would I be getting from it? Say the budget is 700 could you do something with that?

This seems like a good deal to me, I also forgot to mention that I don't need the OS. I already have a disc that my friend never used.

One other thing though, while I was looking online I saw these Processors ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ) where they had built in/integrated graphics but where able to have dedicated graphics later on? My question would be, is this an option to go since it would be cheaper and buy the GPU later on?

Well these processors are good but only up to a certain extent, I would stick to detached gpu and cpu. You may as well go full put while you can.
