Closed minded? I feel like I am one of the most open minded people. When you take someone's choice and/or take advantage of someone's childhood naivety, that is a moral issue. I'm not saying a person has to be 18 to marry, but mid/late teens is really when people start to have a sense of what they want and what is good for them. I just don't ok immorality. Kids are being affected by this. They don't deserve this nor would a great majority want it. Child slavery is not ok.

Can you do anything about it? No. Can the Entire American Gov't do anything about it? No. So why does this get publicized in America? So we can Look at other countries in Disgust as yall are showing.

If you did give a "****" about them then you would go to Iraq and try to stop this, wouldnt you?

Can I do anything about it? No. Can our government? Maybe, but a world war could start if we tried. It gets publicized because it is news, and it is a type of story that will sell. I think it would be a failure of the media if this wasn't in the news. We need to know what the laws are in other countries. If not, we would be living in complete ignorance to it all. It's not always about what can we do right now, but what can we help change when the opportunity arises (even if it is through something simple like education.)

Also, that site appears to be French, not English/American. The site also looks sketchy, but I still stand by what I said if it does end up being a true story.

Sgt_Roebuck_115 wrote You guys are so close minded, open it for once and see that they dont have our mindset. Let them be and stop being that ignorant american that pisses everyone off and then blames the gov't because they didnt do anything about it. I hate americans like that. Be Considerate for once and dont have a fit everytime they do something we dont like. If we cant even fix domestic problems then how can we rage at foreign countries.

I think that you are missing the point. I do agree that we need to concentrate on our domestic issues, we seem to have no problem with spending money everywhere else, but neglect our own.

The fact that they are allowing children, girls specifically, to be forced into marriage (and all that it entails) is wrong. As a "civilized world", and I use that term loosely, we have decided that slavery should be outlawed. The act of forcing these girls into marriage is exactly that, slavery. There are countless stories of young girls dying from internal injuries because of the forced intercourse. There are several stories of these child brides being discarded once they have been used up and are no longer needed by their husbands.

I agree that all cultures are different and that they need to keep their individuality, but as a world we need to keep certain aspects of humanity in tact, or all is lost. If we were to allow this to happen without voicing our disgust, then we would be just as bad. A man, Edmund Burke I believe, once wrote "All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." this is a very true statement. Children's rights should be maintained throughout the world, no matter which culture.

Think about if it was your sister.

It's not just the US that is voicing their opinion about it. Within their own region and faith people, organizations, religious officials and governments have condemned it. The UAE, for example, has released several degrees and laws forbidding the act. The problem is that there are several governments that have either ignored the problem or outright endorse it.

It's funny how this story is not on headlines across the world, this is because Governments like to deny anything happening outside their little bubble and are in cahoots with all the big newspapers and news websites.

Lets be honest if it doesn't affect how a government is portrayed or doesn't add any money to these government officials wallets then they couldn't give a toss

I shouldn't be shocked its happening over there where they give Females no Rights, but still, its inhumane.
