Here are the cities (not states) I've been to:

NYC
Chicago
Seattle
DC (is this technically a state?)
LA
San Fran
Boston

a few others

Some good states I've been to:

Maryland
Connecticut
All New England states except Vermont

They are all good so I'd recommend them, the US is massive so plan out your route properly and figure how you are going to travel. I'm from England so sorry if my knowledge isn't too great. PM me if you have questions about any of these places.
