Despite the name im not that knowledgeable on motherboards xD
Just wondering if someone could explain what a North And south Bridge is on a motherboard and what there purpose for being there?

Motherboards used to have two main chips on them; the North bridge and South bridge whihch are named like that due to their places on the board.
The North bridge connected the CPU, RAM, and graphics together and connected them to the South bridge. The South bridge controlled the drives, audio, and the rest of the system.
The chipset doesn't matter as much nowadays, as most of them have the same basic features. Some are better for overclocking though for example, Z87 is the best overclocking chipset for Intel CPU's
