Gigabyte GTX780 GDDR5-3GB 2xDVI/HDMI/DP OC Graphics Card GV-N780OC-3GD REV2.0 - Gigabyte
$509.99

i'm new to building computer's and what not and i feel like 780's are the one's that truly
play at ultra setting's can u explain a little to me that, if this is the only type of GPU that will run ultra?

Lots of GPU's can run games on ultra, but it depends on the resolution. For example, my R9 270X runs every game on ultra at 1440X900.
For 1080P gaming, a 780 should run every game on ultra for a few years to come. But so will the R9 290 for about the same.

1920x1080p has around 60% more pixels than 1440x900, I believe.

A GTX 780 for 1920x1080p gaming would be overkill. GTX 770 would be a better fit, you'd pay a LOT more for a minimal performance increase if you went with a 780.

if you're only gaming at 1080p go for a 770, I have one and I can run every game I've tried on ultra, at a high FPS (apart from crysis 3)
